Alex Linton
I am a 17-year-old male who says radical things but does not think he is a member of either party due to problems in each. I come a single parent home where I have lived with my mom since I was 4. I went to a private Christian school for all of elementary school and have been in public schools ever since. I became an athiest when I was 11 and have a belief that a since of morality is necessary to be a good human being, but since there is no definite morality that there must be some sort of basis for morals. I believe that morals should be based on logical reasoning on what rights humans have and what infringes on those rights would be considered immoral. I have moved around since I was young and have lived in Atlanta since 2006. My political views are mostly of liberals when it comes to social issues, and conservatives when it comes to economic issues. I am strong proponent of pro-choice, gay marriage, and overall equality and rights for humans. When it comes to the economy I believe that it is the government’s responsibility to not intervene, though I believe if the government intervenes at all that they should take responsibility for the economic situation. One of the fundamental things I believe in is pacificism. Fighting is not necessary unless for defense. Attacking a country out of anything besides retaliation is completely wrong and even then I do not like the idea of a country attacking another for any reason but I am not so idealistic to think that our world works like that. One of the things I believe in is individual rights and I am strongly against making the government more powerful for any reason. But the main problem with these is that they are ideals and are hard to implement. Hopefully one of the candidates can come close to this, but I severly doubt they can. I mostly support Obama based on ethical and economic values. If the “conservatives” were truely conservative with their economic plan(and didn’t have Sarah Palin as a VP candidate) I would probably lean towards McCain for hope of the economy not being controlled by the the government. But in the parties’ current states I think that both are taking the wrong approach but I believe Obama is taking the wrong approach right… Yeah…
There is nothing that is clear cut is this world, but it is best if everyone strives to an ideal that causes human prosperity. Too bad humans are such weak-minded creatures that look down on others, rage war, cause turmoil in others and do not understand if we looked over petty things like race, religion, wealth status, political views, etc, we could prosper as a species on an unprecendented level. That is what I strive for ultimately for the good in humanity and to see that good even if it is hard to see even in countries out there raging war, causing genocide and overall discourse. My political, and social views are pretty evident and I am strongly opinionated so it will not be vague or blurry my thoughts on a subject. Hopefully even with all this I can be open-minded and respect others opinions even if it is hard at times. Well I have rambled on enough… There is a “brief” description of me.
