Tommy McConnell

Hey guys. My full name is Thomas Edward McConnell, I am 18 years old, and I was born in Atlanta but have incredibly heavy ties to Southern California. I have moved once but only about a mile away. I have a younger brother, Matt, who most of you know and is very close to me in age (13 months) and in kinship. My parents divorced when I was in 5th grade due to my Dad’s alcoholism, but we all have remained close and I see him on a regular basis. Both of my parents are professional musicians. My brother is an all state trumpet player and I am an all state drummer. I believe the arts to be mankinds salvation and the biggest gift to the world. Hopefully, I will attend college somewhere in California. I plan on majoring in business and either majoring or minoring in music. I am a somewhat lax Christian who does have a strong personal connection to God but believes organized religion to be a form of brainwashing. I drink and smoke occasionally. I have a small tattoo and I am very open minded about other people’s cultures and traditions. I come from a very politically diverse family; my dad is a heavy conservative whilest my mother is a strong liberal. My brother and I tend to have more liberal views on the world. I believe liberalism is progressive and change is a necessity for mankind to survive. I believe in evolution and global warming. I believe in a free market economy, but in times I think integrating socialism is ok. I am moderate with my views on immigration, abortion, and gay marriage. I’ll be honest, I am just starting to get politically active and hope none of you will think down on me for that. Anyway, I hope to learn a lot about politics and discuss important issues with intelligent people like all of you. Obama ‘08.
