LHS Politics

This has been the most important year in the Untied States since 9/11. The presidential election has sparked an expolsion of politcal awareness amongst the youth of the nation on all levels of the political spectrum. This blog is a snapshot of this phenomenon. A select group of students at Lakeside High School express and discuss their political beliefs in a healthy organized fashion.

Some call me J.V., some call me the Polar Bear, but most just call me Jason.  Ideally, the world would be like one giant hippy colony and we wouldn’t need a government. Realistically, I understand that we need one but wish it was more like Switzerland’s with at least some sort of public referendum system.  I’m not terribly enthused with either of the two major parties that our country currently has to offer, and think its stupid to categorize everyone in the country as one of two set templates.  I’m fairly cynical as far as politicians are concerned, and tend to end up supporting the one I dislike the least.  That being said, the one I dislike the least tends to be a Democrat, and I typically side with them on issues such as gay rights and abortions.  I am a college bound seventeen year old white male from a well educated middle class family.  I’ve attended public schools all of my life, and like to think that it has caused me to be influenced by many different life views.  I do believe in God, but am not so hot on organized religion, and only attend religious services about four times a year when forced to by my parents.  I believe that drugs should be legalized and heavily taxed.  I believe that there are some crimes that should warrant immediate death.  I do not believe in the second ammendment.  I believe that war is sometimes necessary, but not in our current situation.  I also believe that Kurt Cobain is alive.
